Curriculum Statement
 
At West Heath we  want to ensure pupils are equipped with the ability to listen, appraise and perform musically. These first hand experiences will in turn enable them to understand more about the different genres of music they listen to. We aim to:
• increase children’s cultural capital
• teach the children musical terminology
• teach the children musical skills
• stimulate them to gain confidence in playing both tuned and un-tuned instruments
• teach them to communicate ideas using appropriate musical vocabulary
• teach them how to evaluate their performances
